Just installed a new nest thermostat E and it has no power. It is wired correctly. Trying to charge now but getting nothing. Any ideas?

I've got a similar problem. Just got a Nest Thermostat E, and I connected the R and C terminals to a 24vac source (a wall wart), so that I can have a look at the various settings. It keeps telling me that I do not have an 'R' wire connected. Is it confused because I do not have anything at all connected to the other terminals at present ?

Hey folks,
Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.
Could you both share a clear photo of your original thermostat wires showing the terminal labels as well as your current Nest Thermostat E's wiring? Also, what type of system do you both have?
Best,
Melba

I actually started another thread with this question:
... but then solved it myself. The problem is that the 24vac wall wart, that I was using to bench test it, had stranded wires. Evidently they don't make contact properly.
