No wires connected when using power adapter

Lil_Cowjar

Hello,

  • I have a two wire system with r and w so I purchased a nest power adapter to make my system compatible. After installing the nest power adapter my Google nest says that there is no wires connected. I disconnected the power adapter and wired my nest directly and I receive the no c wire alarm. I tried using my brothers power adapter thinking my unit is defective and it still said no wires connected. I don't understand that when the power adapter is connected, it says there are no wires detected. Has anyone run into a similar issue or know the solution? I work with electrical equipment on a daily basis so I'm fairly confident I have it installed correctly.

Hello Lil_Cowjar,

I appreciate you posting here in the Google Nest Community. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

I understand how frustrating it is to hear about the issues you're facing with your Nest Power Connector installation. Even with your experience with electrical equipment, sometimes these smart home devices can be tricky.

One suggestion is to double-check the wiring connections, ensuring a secure fit. Also, I did find a helpful article called Nest Power Connector with some troubleshooting steps that would be useful. If the problem persists, please share with us a photo of how you installed the power connector. This would help us see how it was labelled.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hi there,

I got you! To insert an image in a post:

  1. Reply to this post.
  2. Click Insert Image.
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions

Also, confirm the voltage output from your HVAC system by going to the Technical Info settings in the thermostat. It might not detect the wires if the voltage is too low. Ensure that the power adapter is receiving the correct voltage and delivering it to the Nest.

Keep me posed.

Regards,
Mark
