My thermostats will not reconnect to the wifi network after a power outage. This is the second time that the thermostats has not connected back up when I have been away from the house. I've only had the Nest thermostat for 6 months.
I am overseas so I cannot reconnect manually. My Nest app is telling me I am still offline 12 hours later. I have tried Google Nest "Help" and there is nothing that covers this situation, surely I can't be the only one that has been in this situation.
Any ideas or help is appreciated.
Maybe I should revert back to an analog type thermostat an throw away the Nest.
Thanks.

1. What's the software version of your thermostat? I have no idea, It was installed when I moved into the house.
2. Do you only have one WiFi network, or are there others? It's a house, of course I only have one.
3. Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network? I have no idea, as far as I know it doesn't mention.
4. Can your other devices find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)? As mentioned in my complaint, I am overseas so only my TV and cell phone connect to my WiFi. BUT, I'm overseas.
5. I am overseas.
6. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, and more) near the thermostat? Nothing is within 15ft of the thermostat. if this is a problem it should never have been installed by a professional in the first place.
It's been offline now for 6 days and I am overseas for another 16 days not knowing if the thermostat is working or not. I will know when I get my electricity bill and if it is high you shall be on the receiving end of my wrath. I intend throwing it away and replacing it with a none WiFi thermostat on my return. I've been reading reviews on your Nest thermostat and most of them describe them as "Garbage".

Hi @bobo5,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post, and I understand your concern that your Nest Thermostat isn't working properly, especially when you're overseas and wondering about your electricity bill. I'd like to help resolve this for you.
To start with troubleshooting steps, it requires someone to be at the Nest Thermostat itself. The process often involves a Factory Reset, and confirming the connection to your home's WiFi network directly from the thermostat's display.
I'll be glad to walk you through the process as soon as you're back home and ready. We'll do everything we can to resolve the problem for you then.
Feel free to keep us posting if you have more questions.
Regards,
Gabriela

I will not need your help when I return. The same thing happened in June when I was also overseas. When I returned I was able to connect back to the WiFi myself, however, by then the temperature had been so low that my power bill was quite high as I couldn't operate the NEST while I was overseas.
I will change out the NEST for a different type thermostat that doesn't need WiFi and throw the NEST away.
