 the w2 cord and aux cord appear to belong to the same wire. Not sure if I should check both when I’m doing the compatibility test

Can someone help me? I’m not sure if my current wiring will be compatible with a nest thermostat.

@Bfleming

Yes, your thermostat is compatible.

Just match the terminal labels on your current thermostat to the labels on the Nest. The orange wire will go to the */OB terminal and the white wire will go to the W terminal.

@Patrick_Caezza why does my thermostat have W2 and Aux on the same label?

W2 is for a conventional system, and the AUX is for the Heat Pump. A jumper/switch on the original thermostat is used to select which type of system you have.
