Odd behavior - Nest thermostat

efbartle

Our Nest thermostat has been working perfectly for several years.

For about two weeks now it has been turning up the heat in the morning as scheduled and heating to the set temp. However, after the initial heating up, it doesn't trigger the furnace to come on again when the temp drops below the set level. If we restart the Nest, it seems to work well until the next morning.

I'd like to avoid having to completely reset the thermostat, but will if that's the only option.

Thanks.

Hello efbartle,

It's great to hear that your Nest Thermostat has served you well for several years. It seems like you're facing a recent issue with the furnace not triggering after the initial heating cycle. Before opting for a complete reset, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try

  1. Ensure that the schedule settings are configured correctly. Double-check the morning schedule to make sure it reflects your desired temperature and time settings.
  2. Check if there are any available software updates for your thermostat. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve glitches or bugs that may be causing the issue.
  3. Instead of a full reset, try a simple power cycle. Restart the thermostat by going to its settings. Then, remove the thermostat from its base for a few seconds, and then reattach it. This can sometimes resolve minor issues.
  4. Ensure that there are no electronic devices or appliances nearby that could be causing interference with the thermostat's communication. This interference might disrupt the thermostat's ability to control the furnace properly.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Mark
