Offline thermostat

My nest app keeps disconnecting making the thermostat offline. Wi-Fi and connection is fine but it’s never dropped out all the time. I also can’t transfer to google home as it just wants to setup as a new thermostat process

Hi TrevAnnie07

Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community. Let’s check this out. Some Wi-Fi network or router settings can affect the connectivity of our devices for security. What we normally suggest is the following:

  • Enable 802.11 b/g/n if you have an 802.11 ac router.
  • Set your Wi-Fi router's DHCP lease time to at least 2 hours.
  • Turn on your router's Power Save Mode (PSM), if you have a Nest thermostat.
  • On your Wi-Fi router, turn on multicast, if you're adding additional Nest devices.
  • If you have a dual-band setup, connect the Nest thermostat to the 2.4 GHz network.

Have a look at this article: Update Wi-Fi network and router settings for additional steps.

Let us know if you have questions. We'll be happy to help.

Best,

Renz
