Hello NestNoob2,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out. Can you verify the make and model of your heating and cooling system?

@krazchaotic, can you please send us a photo of the wiring from your old thermostat and the make and model of your system?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Edmond

Hi there,

Thanks for the information. Could you also please give us the brand and model of your Cooling and Heating systems?

I'm sorry but I don't have that information.

Hey there,

Thanks for checking. Based on the photos of the wires from your current thermostat, this is a heat pump system wiring configuration. This should be compatible with any type of Nest Thermostat.

The correct wiring configuration for that in the Nest thermostat is:

1. Yellow wire on Y or Y1
2. Red wire on R or RH/RC
3. Green wire on G
4. White wire on O/B
5. Blue wire on C

Take note no need to put the jumper wire between the RC and RH and the jumper wire on Y and W on your current thermostat to Nest thermostat as the Nest thermostat base has a built in jumper wire.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Edmond

That was the first configuration I tried, but to no avail, the Y comes up red (Not detected) on the cable detection. No worries, I think I will just hire a professional. I'm scared I might mess up my system. I appreciate all the help. Thank you.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

Thanks for looking into this, Edmond.

@NestNoob2, how's it going with the installation? Have you managed to reach out to an HVAC technician for the wiring configuration? Let us know if you still need more help.

Regards,
Mark
