Presence sensing is a joke

Ckleinhe
Community Member

I've read the instructions. Combed the forums. Watched the videos. Tried all the steps.

Presence.

Sensing.

Does.

Not.

Work.

I leave the house and watch the app record my departure. Hours later, the heat is still running. I've been told the same by colleagues and others. Since I got the the thermostat through my utility, I also called them. Their response? "Nobody gets it to work consistently."

Please don't offer advice on fixing it - I've already tried it. But if you are considering buying one for this feature? Don't.

Hi Ckleinhe,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with the presence sensing feature of your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Is it working fine before?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

it's been broken for 11 months. if you want nest to work you need background scanning on and if you want google home to work you need a app *before* v 2 49 x branches

Thanks for the response. Are you getting any message when you fill out the form? Could you share a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks,

Edward

it says "form submission..." *something* in a bubble and vanishes too fast to grab

is it more important you deal with the OPs issue? thousands of your paying customers face this issue...

Hi eighty666,

Thanks for the response. By filling out the form, it will create a case and our team would be able to look closer into the issue. Could you try this link instead?

Thanks,

Edward

i already have a case. i have had the 3 weeks back and forward with a person that requested i somehow video myself crossing an invisible boundary. now i am in the bit where i get lied to and promised a fix. later the bit where it becomes apparent that the 1000s of users all saying how broken it is are telling the truth and i will be ignored. fully in line with google "support" policy

Hi everyone,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We haven't heard from you in a while so we'll be locking this thread if there is no update after 24 hours. If you have any new questions, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the Community.

Thanks,
Mel

what's the point of this dumb endless cycle of releasing a bad broken untested product > directing users to a forum > only to completely ignore them, fail to address anything at all except a bit of back-patting and then starting over?

our issue still exists. we require assistance with it.
