Radiators firing up when hot water is turning on

Hi,

I've had this issue for a while now, the heating and hot water have seperate schedule but when the boiler turns on for hot water, the radiators also fire up even though the heating displays off and the history shows no record, and radiators stay hot until the hot water timer turns off, this is making the house boil, I've reset it many times but the issue keeps coming back.. Would appreciate if someone knows a solution..

Hi there @SzA,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you tell me please what type of heating system do you have? Is it a Y-plan system boiler with a "Y" shaped valve for both heating and hot water, or is it an S-plan with separate valves for heating and hot water?

Where can I check that? I have a potterton boiler with a hot water tank.

You can take a look at the valves next to the boiler. Perhaps you could send me a picture of it?

Thank you. However, this doesn't seem like a picture of the valve. A motorized valve should have something like a small box above it which opens it and closes it with the command from the Heat Link.

Then I've got this next to the water tank upstairs

Got it. Thank you. That seems to be a motorized valve indeed. Do you have one next to the boiler as well?

No it's just this that I sent earlier, is there a fix? Really appreciate your help

No worries. We'll get there as well. Could you tell me please what are your Home/Away assist settings? Please send me some screenshots from there.

No it's still the same issue, just turned hot water on and the radiators are hot again..

Got it. Could you tell me please if you can hear a click from the Heat Link when calling for heat and turning it off from the app?

Yes that click sound happens whenever the heating turns on as per the schedule, also when it turns off either automatically or manually through the app  Currently I have the heat mode on off but when the hot water is turned on the radiators go hot as well..

In this case, if the Heat Mode is off and the hot water turns the heating on as well, it might be related to a stuck motorized valve which operates them both. Anyway, you'll need a boiler engineer on the spot that will need to contact us for troubleshooting and continuity test on the Heat Link with a multi meter.

Is there a way to contact someone via a telephone number? That would be a lot quicker..
