Random boiler activity

Hi all:

I have turned off the heating schedule for summer (deleted it) and set default temperature to 14 degrees, and have set the hot water to fire up at 5:30 am for half an hour each day.  I have noticed on some days at random times during the late night-early morning I am seeing gas usage on my smart meter (Octopus energy half hourly readings) even though the room temperature never drops below say 19 degrees.  I am not sure if it is the central heating or the water which is kicking in as I am not awake to notice radiators warming up, but suspect that it is the hot water as when this random event happens the water schedule is sometimes ignored.  See pictures attached - the gas usage in the evening is my gas hob being used,  Tuesday = normal, Wednsday = random event.Screenshot (42).pngScreenshot (41).png

Anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

Hi Prhandley,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand your concern about your gas activating randomly. No worries, I'm here to help!

I recommend checking if you have any forgotten temperature schedules that might be causing this issue. You can access your temperature schedules by visiting Temperature schedules.

Manuel

Hi. That's not the issue...I did a complete factory reset a couple of weeks ago and it was happening before and after the reset.  I've also checked for ghost schedules. Additionally I've never had a schedule set for the times it fires up.   And it's still happening

Hi Prhandley,

Thanks for your reply and for providing more information about your situation. Based on what you've described, it's likely the autoschedule is causing the random gas activation.

I recommend deactivating the autoschedule. Have you tried doing this yet? If not, here are the steps:

  • On your thermostat, go to Settings > Nest Sense > Auto-Schedule > Off.

I hope this helps!

Manuel

Thanks for your reply.  I have just checked and the auto schedule is already turned off so that's not the culprit!
Do you have any more suggestions please?
Thanks

Hi Prhandley,

Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps. I understand that a factory reset didn't resolve the issue and turning off the autoschedule did not work.

I recommend filling out this form. Once you're done, please let me know and one of our specialist will contact with you soon.
