Remove 1 of 2 same home locations on Nest Thermostat

I have 2 of the same “HOME” locations on my Nest Thermostat app on my phone. I only use 1, and the other just shows up every time I go to the app. How can I just delete this one off of the front app screen?

Hi QP4JC,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the delay here.

To delete a home on a migrated Google account, you need to do it through the Google Home app by following the steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Switch to the home you want to delete.
  3. Tap Settings   Delete this home  Delete.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Melba

Hi there, unfortunately I don’t see the extra “home” in Google home, just in the Nest app, which direct me to the Google home app when I try to delete it from the Nest app.

I never could find a way to remove my moms house from my nest account either. Nest is not really-as far as I can tell- migrated to Google home. I changed the name on it so it wouldn’t bug me.

I am having the same problem and it is driving me crazy. I am being instructed to delete HOMES in Google Home but they do not exist in that app. They only show up in the NEST app. It gives me an option to delete them but it does nothing when executed and they still show up. I appreciate the suggestion to change the name and ignore the unused HOMES but I guess I'm a little nuts because that will drive me crazy and bug me every time I open the app. Is there a solution out there? I would like to wipe out all the data in the NEST app and start over but I don't see a way to do that either.

I was hoping to see an answer for this at the bottom, no luck. I have same issue.

FYI-I was on an online chat with support for 90 minutes trying to resolve this. Got nowhere. I was given a service ticket number and told it usually takes about 24 hours to get a reply. It's been a week now. I followed up with an email and was told they would contact me when a they have a resolution. I will not hold my breath.

Download Google Home App and do it from there.

Yes. Nothing has been resolved. No solution to my knowledge. Do you have one?

Same issue here. I made it to the Home settings menu in the Nest app. I can change the name, address, etc, but not remove myself from the home entirely. I sold this home a year ago and I am creeped out that I can control someone else’s home. I’m sure the new owner would be creeped as well.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're all having issues removing home structures in the app. I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Please give these steps a whirl:

  1. Install the Google Home app.
  2. Sign in with the same email account associated with the Nest app and your thermostat.
    1. Skip the part where it asks about setting up a device until you reach the homepage.
  3. Go to the home structure where there's no device connected. Check out this guide on how to switch homes.
    1. Select Settings. Scroll down and tap "Remove this home" to confirm.
  4. Then, check the Nest app.

Let us know if that helps.

Best regards,

Mark

Thank you I will try it out!

Hello Rpletcher,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

I've been waiting 5 months now for that solution.
