The thing that I love about the Ecobee is that it can work in conjunction with one of their door sensors to shut off the AC if the door is left open. However, the Ecobee3 does not track temperature very well. I uploaded a chart showing the response to a call for cooling that went on for 24 minutes. The external thermostat and our own senses were telling us that the thermostat should have been satisfied after 5 1/2 minutes, but it just doesn't realize that the temperature set point has been met until 24 minutes have passed and the actual temperature is 67.9.
Does Nest or Ring track temperature better? I know that Honeywell works fine but don't believe they have door sensors. Does Nest or Ring shut off AC if a door is open?

Hello daneboy55,
I'm sorry for the late response, and thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum.
The Nest Thermostat sensors are mainly designed for reading ambient temperature and are calibrated to detect a person's presence up to a distance of 15 feet and at an angle of 90 degrees if they pass by the thermostat. However, the Nest Thermostat 2020 model does not have Farsight, the function that allows users to view the information on the thermostat display from a distance.
Please take a look at this article about the Sensors in Google Nest devices and let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Mark
