I have TRANE HVAC (XV95) and heat pump with THX9421R5013 thermostat with outdoor temperature sensing wireless module. Everything is working fine.
This is probably a semi-smart thermostat. My first question is, is it worth replacing it with nest?
Secind (and serious) question is, my thermostat has just 2 wire (white and red) currently connected. I can see the cable in the wall has blue and green also but they are not connected to thermostat. Even with this, the heat pump heat/cool and aux heat works as expected.
The blue and green seem to be connected to proper terminals on control board in the HVAC.
Now, I do probably have 4 wires that can be used. Should I do the setup with 4? Or, is this some unique setup that I shouldn't mess with just for the sake of a nest thermostat?
Thanks for feedback!!

Hi Svk,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.
The wiring configuration on your current thermostat seems to be a proprietary type of system. This is not compatible with the Nest Thermostat. In some cases, having your HVAC technician inspect your system and have your system compatible with Nest Thermostat. We could get help from Nest Pro too.
You could check out this link to know more about the Nest Thermostat compatibility with most HVAC systems.
Thanks,
Ryan
