Replacing a Google Nest display in a new house

Hi, we just moved into a new house where an existing Nest Learning Thermostat (Gen 3) has been installed. However, the display has been misplaced and we have no way of operating the heating except for manually through the heat link, which is very suboptimal. We don't have access to an existing Nest account as the previous owners had set that up.

We are exploring options for what to do and understand there are potentially 2 routes, could you please confirm if they are possible?

Option 1 - can we just get a replacement Nest display and connect it to the existing heat link? Would we have any issues with pairing the two given that we don't have access to the existing account?

Option 2 - replace the whole thermostat system. I have seen a few forum entries saying you can't get just the display as a replacement. If we need to buy the whole set up again including the heat link, we will also need to have someone install it as I imagine it is more complex than just pairing the display with the heat link. Is this correct?

Any advice would be really helpful, thank you

Option 1 is the cheapest way, and pairing is simple. Buy a display, but you will need the base plate also if you don't have that at present.

Where are you located, which Shire, as I sell all the Nest parts used?

The new display if set to factory reset and removes the previous owner, so again simple.

There are dozens of examples on here how to pair, just search you will find them.
