Rh wire says it’s not getting power.

My nest thermostats stopped heating 3 days ago. It says the Rh wire isn’t getting power. I’ve check the breaker, the heater, and all the wire were detected when I charge the face of the nest and put it back on. Can someone help me figure what’s wrong. I’ve only had the nest for about 6 or 7 months and it was heating 4 days ago and has been set to heat for over a month. But all of the sudden it’s not getting power.
I’ve looked up and saw that there is a C wire transformer that I can plug in to give it power from what I’m reading as much as I don’t want to have to have a cord running down my wall, would this fix it if I did? Or is there something else I can do to get it to work? It’s freezing in here! Please help

Hello JamieBy,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Nest Thermostat. It's frustrating when your heating system stops working, especially during cold weather. It's great that you've already taken some troubleshooting steps.

Considering that the Nest Thermostat is indicating a lack of power to the Rh wire, it's possible that adding a C-wire (common wire) could help resolve the issue. The C-wire provides a constant source of power to the thermostat, which can be essential for its proper functioning. While it might be inconvenient to have a cord running down the wall, it's a common solution that many users find effective.

Here are a few steps you can take:

  • Install a C-wire. If your HVAC system doesn't already have a C-wire, you can install one to provide continuous power to your thermostat. This might involve some wiring work, but it can be a reliable solution.
  • Check Compatibility. Before adding a C-wire, ensure that your HVAC system and Nest Thermostat are compatible with this configuration. Some systems may require additional components or professional installation.
  • Nest Power Connector is an alternative to the common wire installation.
  • Voltage issues. Gather the power readings in the Technical Info settings.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
