Scheduling heat issue

IRJ
Community Member

I have a Nest Learning Thermostat.

I have set it to heat and set a base temperature as 66F. Note the thermostat is on a corridor wall with no line of sight to the bedroom. For the morning I schedule at 8 a.m. to heat up to 70F and hold there until 10 a.m. when I schedule it to return to 66F. The Nest shows my schedule for heat correctly.

When I get up the temperature is always maintained at the base 66F until I walk right up to the actual thermostat (at say9 a.m.) then the unit becomes active and shows Orange with the base at 66F and the schedule temperature as 70F. Within about 15 seconds I hear the heating fan turn on and some seconds later the furnace becomes active and the temperature begins its rise to 70F.

Question: Why does it wait until I physically approach the thermostat to obey the scheduling?

Thanks.

IRJ,

1. Do you have Auto Schedule turned ON or OFF?

2. Do you have HomeAway assist turned ON or OFF?

Turn off homeaway assist. It thinks not home until you move in front of it. Good call cooling wizard

Thanks for the answers. Indeed I had to change settings. It appears that the Nest Thermostats are way more complex and have a wider variety of settings that I had imagined.
