Set by your adjustments means what

Hello can anyone please help?  We installed a Nest thermostat. Now we are away and managing it remotely. Often in the evenings it is randomly setting itself to a very high temperature of 24 Celsisus or more.  The "history" shows these as "set by your adjustment" when that is not the case. Other annotations in History show the temperatures as set by me.

Can anyone please help as to why this is happening? Read somewhere that deleting and reinstalling the app may help? Importantly, as we are far away and cannot get back there , will we need some code or to be physically there on front of the thermostat for the nest app to work again when we reinstall it?

Hi @curioustoknow ! You can reinstall the app without being physically near the thermostat, indeed, but if you want to re-add the device on the account, you need to be near the thermostat, as you need the entry key. However, for the issue mentioned above, could you please let me know if you have the Auto Schedule turned on?

Thanks @David_K for all the explanations.

Looks as though another user experienced a similar issue to yourself and the topic below details below how they were able to troubleshoot it and what steps they took to resolve. Hopefully it helps!

Nest Learning making adjustments on it's own - Google Nest Community

Thanks David. Yes I read that thread in detail and in full. This is why I asked if I will need to be physically near the thermostat when I reinstall the app? As explained I am now managing it remotely and will be unable to go to my house should that be required when I reinstall the app.  So if you can help answer that, will be grateful

For setup you need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the thermostat, so yes you will need to physically be near the thermostat.

Does that hold true for a reinstallation of the app on my mobile phone or do you mean when the Nest Thermostat is first installed and set up?

For a Nest learning thermostat that is. When the thermostat and the heat link was first installed and set up, my google account details were already entered and got an entry key that I added with the Nest app. As far as I recall, I was on the mobile netwrok on my phone and not on the same wifi network. I could be wrong.  In any case is there any other way to delete and successfully reinstall the app on the mobile without physically being present?  Otherwise it seems to be  annoying and unworkable solution for me currently being away. Thnaks for your help.

You can reinstall the app without being physically with the thermostat that's for sure. In terms of readding the thermostat to the app, you'll need to physically be with the thermostat to scan the QR code or enter the setup code.
