I set up 2 thermostats to the wrong Home. Now I want to move them to the correct home where my doorbell ect live. Unfortunately the home is greyed out in the device settings.

I’ve seen similar issues where the Nest thermostat ends up associated with the wrong home or shows incorrect location settings. It looks like the problem isn’t something you can fix directly on the thermostat itself, many users report there isn’t an option on the device to change location, and the correct settings usually come from the app instead. Google Nest Community

In cases like this, the usual approach is to make sure the home address and location settings are correctly set in the Google Home app or the Nest app, as the thermostat pulls location data from there rather than its own display settings. Google Nest Community Some community members also find that removing and re-adding the thermostat under the correct home in the app can help, especially if it was initially associated with a different home structure. It can definitely be frustrating when the device doesn’t show the right settings directly on the screen, but focusing on the app configuration usually resolves the issue. Hopefully Google adds a more direct way to manage location on the thermostat itself in future updates!

I'm not trying on the device but the device info inside the Google Home app. It appears the only way to fix this is to delete the device and completely reinstall it.

Hi @Mrtdg

Instead of resetting it, you may be able to change the account connection instead.

First check which model of thermostat you have:
How to tell which Nest thermostat you have - Google Nest Help

Important: In case you do end up needing to reset the thermostat, I would recommend you write down the wiring information so you can easily enter your thermostat's wiring if needed. On your thermostat, go to Settings > Equipment. You might want to do this for other settings, such as system heating type, and safety temperature as well.

Nest Thermostat (2020), Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen)

  1. On the thermostat, go to Settings > Account > Disconnect.
  2. Follow the setup steps: Get started with your Nest Thermostat - Google Nest Help

Switch to the correct home and setup these models using the Google Home app. The QR code and setup key are physically printed on the back of the thermostat for Nest Thermostat (2020) and will be displayed on screen for Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen).

Nest Thermostat E, Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen)

  1. On the thermostat, go to Settings > Reset > Account connection. If you don't see this option, you'll need to select All settings.
  2. Follow the setup steps: Add your Nest thermostat to the Nest app - Google Nest Help

Switch to the correct home and setup these models using the Nest app. The QR code and setup key are in the settings on the thermostat itself and are not printed on the device.
