My husband recently passed away and he had our homes nest set up on his phone. How can I transfer or set up with my account information?

Hello there,

I'm sorry for your loss, @V777. I hope you're doing okay. I'd love to help you link your Nest Thermostats to your own account.

Please note: removing the Nest Thermostats from the current account will clear all the schedule temperatures created and other account-based information, such as the Wi-Fi connection. Also, you need to be physically with the thermostats to remove account access. Try the steps here:

For the Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to Settings > Reset > Account Connection > Reset.
  2. Back to Settings > Network.
    1. Reconnect it manually to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Once connected. Go back to Settings > Nest App.
    1. Select your preferred option from those available.
  4. Open the Nest app and make sure that you're already logged in using your own email account.
  5. Select "Add product" and continue the prompt to add the thermostat.

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 model:

  1. Reset the thermostat to default: Settings > Factory reset.
    1. This will remove the account permanently.
  2. Once ready. Remove the thermostat display from its base by pulling it off the wall, and take out the batteries for at least 3 minutes before plugging them back in.
  3. Open the Google Home app and proceed by adding it again.

Please let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you, and I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark
