Is is possible to set up different temperature schedules for Home and Away modes on Nest Thermostat version 1.1.-9. Switching modes will allow automatically change schedule.

Probably the most straight forward approach would be to utilize Presence Sensing on the phone for each household member.  It basically works like - If all participating phones (you, spouse, roommates, kids, etc) are detected away, then run the Away routine. Once the first phone returns, run the Home routine.  It uses the phone GPS and "geofencing" to determine each individual/phone status. While you can use otherNest devices to detect presence it often is best to just use phones.

Google Home App -> Settings -> Presence sensing (under Features)
Google Home App -> <thermostat> -> Settings (gear icon) -> Presence sensing (under Device Features)

Then you configure the Home and Away routines to do whatever you want them to do. Though I think when you first set this up for you thermostat it automatically configures the routines. In your case with a  thermostat the Away routine would set the thermostat to Eco mode, while the home routine would turn the Thermostat on (therefor running the schedule).

Google Home app -> Routines

I think my question was not how to set up SCHEDULE but how to manually set up different schedules for HOME vs. AWAY modes.

On one hand your clarification includes "Then you configure the Home and Away routines to do whatever you want them to do" which, I think, means that there are could be TWO different routines.

On another hand your clarification includes: "In your case with a  thermostat the Away routine would set the thermostat to Eco mode" which, I think, means that I can NOT have TWO different ECO modes for HOME routine vs. AWAY routine.

Please confirm/update the following assumption.

1. Setting the Away routine to ECO mode is the default behavior,
2. This can NOT be changed Google Nest Version 1.1-9 thermostat.
3. This can NOT be visible for Google Nest Version 1.1-9 thermostat.

This behavior I see on my thermostat:
If, being in my house, I set 'AWAY' mode manually I still see the HOME mode schedule
I do NOT see SPECIFIC schedule for AWAY mode.
I do NOT  see ECO MODE for EVERY DAY after I set the 'AWAY' mode manually WHEN my phone location is still in the house.
Thank you
Alec

I will try to clarify.

There is one schedule. The schedule is based on preset temperatures that you configure.

Example presets:

Comfort - 68°F / 20°C
Sleep - 64°F / 18°C
Eco - 55°F / 13°C

To simplify you might have a schedule something like below for every day.

Schedule:

08:00 Comfort
22:00 Sleep

Starting at 8 am set temp to 68. At 10 pm set temp to 64.

The Away routine sets the temperate to Eco. The Home routine runs the schedule. When at home the temp will be either 68 or 64 depending on time of day.  When away the temp will be 55.

It would be great if you could set up an away schedule.  My use case is that we are normally home by say 5pm, but some days we are home later.  We would still like the house to warm up while we're away, so when we get home it's warm... and we dont have to wait the 2 hrs for the house to get warm again.

You can hard set a schedule.  Maybe I don't understand what you want?  It also depends on whether you have a learning thermostat or not.  Example:

Example presets:

Comfort - 68°F / 20°C
Sleep - 64°F / 18°C
Eco - 55°F / 13°C
Work - 60°F / 16°C

Mon, Tue, Wed, Thr, Fri Schedule:

06:00 Comfort
08:00 Work
17:00 Comfort
22:00 Sleep

At 06:00 the house warms up for getting ready to go to work.  At 08:00 the house cools down while you are at work.  At 17:00 it warms back up until you go to sleep at 22:00.

Sat, Sun Schedule:

08:00 Comfort
22:00 Sleep

I get the hard schedule... that's what i have now... so I have home/away assist disabled.

the problem is that if it's a Monday holiday, or if someone takes off work that day, the house cools down, and you have to remember to turn it back up to "comfort".  so, even if home/away is turned on, it will still follow the schedule and turn off the heat.

I would like if there was a home schedule and an away schedule.  that way, if I'm home for the day... comfort, but if i go to work like usual then the heat is off until before i normally come home.  at least, that's how i would program it if i had a separate schedule for away.

I think I understand what you are asking for.  I think you are asking for schedule to be run/set when the home is in Home mode and a different schedule when in Away mode - effectively two separate schedules. As far as I know there is only one schedule per day. Away can be set to a preset.

You could enable Home/Away detection and set Away so that it does not drop the temperature as much - say 60°F vs 55°F.  That way it does not take as long to reheat the house when coming home.

Or, as you noted,  when someone stays home unexpectedly just remember to set the temp to comfort or a comfortable temperature and let the schedule resume on its own.
