Nest thermostat is set up with the previous home owner I guess, so when I look to insert the 7 diget code it says it the Nest is already assigned to an account.   My old one at a previous house or the former owner at this house????

Do a full factory reset and that will erase the previous owner

Hello ERJ15,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.

I appreciate your suggestion, @Frustratedddd.

@ERJ15, Resetting the Nest Thermostats to default will remove all the linked information. Before you begin, please refer to this link to determine which type of Nest Thermostat you have and give these steps a try:

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 version:

  1. Reset the thermostat to its default settings as stated and proceed with adding it to the Google Home app either by scanning the QR code or via an entry key.

For the Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to Settings > Reset > Account Connection > Reset.
    1. This will remove the account and network connection.
  2. Once cleared. Go back to Settings > Network. Reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Back to Settings > Nest App. Choose either a QR code or generate an entry key.
  4. Add the thermostat to the Nest app.

Please let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark
