Hi Pat81,

Yikes! If you're setting up a Nest Thermostat and there is no space provided to enter the last 4 digits of the serial number, it could indicate an issue with the setup process or the user interface. Try following these:

  1. Make sure you're following the correct setup instructions for your specific Nest Thermostat model. Different models may have slightly different setup procedures.
    • Are you located in North America or Europe?
    • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
    • What app are you using in setting up the Nest Thermostat? Nest app or Home app?
  2. If you're using a mobile device or a specific browser to set up the Nest Thermostat, try switching to a different device or browser.
  3. Clearing the cache and cookies of your web browser can help set up the Nest Thermostat by removing temporary data or stored information that may interfere with the setup process. Restart the browser and attempt the setup process again.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe

Hi Zoe,

I'm in the US.  It's just a Nest Thermometer not the learning one.  I'm using the Home app.  I was thinking of deleting the app and reinstalling to see if that was the problem.

I will try your suggestions and let you know.

Thank you,

Pat

Hi Zoe,

I reinstalled Google Home and still can't put in those last 4 digits.  The previous screen has code with  either a 0 or O and  it accepts either and moves to the next screen , but there is no place to put inthe 4 digits.  If I substitute a different digit, there is an error message.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. Please send us a screenshot of the app's prompt for the last 4 digits so we can investigate further. Also, what is the error that shows on the app when you substitute a different digit? I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Zoe

Hi there,

I see. Could you check on the longer code that is alpha-numeric? Get those last six characters and numbers, then put them on the app.

Thanks,

Zoe

I just reinstalled the app again and it didn't ask me for either of the codes.  It asked about the wires and says I have to install a nest power connector.  I only have a white and red wire connected with a green that is not connected.  I looked that up and it says I have to have a hvac system.  I just have a gas furnace which it had said made it compatible for the nest thermostat when I did the compatibility quiz before I ordered it.

Hi there,

I see. Did the Google Home app provide a Google Store link that you can click for the Nest Power Connector? The link allows you to order a Nest Power Connector at no cost.

Thanks,

Zoe

Hello Pat81,

Gotcha. I'll keep this thread open and will wait for your update once you receive your Nest Power Connector so I can assist you more with your questions.

Hello there Pat81,

It's me again—have you already received your Nest Power Connector? If so, how does it go now?

Kind regards,

Zoe

Hi,

Hi Zoe,

The directions for the power connector say to finish installing the Nest before attaching the connector.  The directions on the app say to install the power connector and then go back to the app to finish installing the Nest.

Which is correct?

Hey Pat81,

Chiming in — I'm sorry for the late response. You can follow the installation prompt in the Google Home app, and update your wiring.

Please keep us posted.

I appreciate your inputs, Zoe.

Best regards,

Jenelyn
