Sometimes Nest ignores my schedule and sets itself, why?

I have a Nest Thermostat E, 1st generation; software version 6.2-27. I control it using the Nest app on my iPhone. I have all the following features turned off:

- Home/Away Assist
- Auto-Schedule
- Early-On
- Cool to Dry
- Sunblock
- Airwave
- Eco

We have a very simple schedule set on the thermostat, because both my husband and I work at home, so we want consistent temperatures day and night. Seven days a week it's set to 76 degrees at 8am and 78 degrees at 8:45pm. When it works, it works great! However, the thermostat will randomly set itself to a different temperature. For example, this morning I walked past it and it was set to 77, with the green leaf showing. I set it back to 76 manually, at the thermostat. This happens frequently! Why is it doing this? I've read through the forums and many people seem to have similar problems. Often the solution is to turn off scheduling entirely and manually set the thermostat, but part of the reason I bought a "smart" thermostat was to set a schedule, so I don't have to manually set the temperature. Is deleting the schedule and setting it manually the only way to get it to stop setting itself? This is a bug in the software, right? I mean if I wanted to manually set my temperature, why would I have bought a Nest?

Well, I learned some interesting stuff today. Mainly, that if you don't want to control everything from your phone, you can go to home.nest.com and access your thermostat with your Google account! In those settings I found something interesting, even though Home/Away Assist is turned off, my thermostat was still checked. So I unchecked it:

Notice how the Nest thinks that we're "away" because there's "no activity in the house." Is this because I don't have my phone set up to indicate activity, so it doesn't have anything to go on except people walking past the thermostat? Anyway, I think maybe this is why it was trying to set an Eco temperature, even though I have that disabled. Going to keep an eye on it and see if it happens again.

Well...I may have a solution. Ever since I made sure that the eco stuff and all that is completely turned off, the thermostat has mostly been following the schedule. Another great thing I learned today on home.nest.com though - you can look at the temperature changes throughout the day and see what triggered them:

Now I know that my husband has been, in fact, changing the temperature at the thermostat. Worse than any software bug, those spouses! 😂
