Stage 1 Cooling not working

Skindocta
Community Member

Hi: I have a Nest E with conventional 1 stage heat and 2 stage cooling and my stage 1 cooling does not seem to kick on. The fan runs but the air does not seem to get colder. Second stage cooling definitely works when I tested it as does the fan.

Attached is the old wiring from my old thermostat. Any advice?? I have a nest learning thermostat on the first floor that seems to work fine. Thx!!

The wiring looks good, Which wires did you select in the Home app when you set it up?

My suggestion would be,

Y2, G/G1, W/W1, C, Y/Y1, and R

If you need to change the selected wires, you should reset to factory defaults on the thermostat.

I selected exactly the same wires that you suggested when I set it up. I even tried to push the Y/Y1 wire in more thinking it wasn’t making good contact. I’m thinking I may go up to attic and check the wiring in compressor to make sure the Y/Y1 wire didn’t get knocked out or something.
