Stage 1 and stage 2 cooling seem reversed

Nest learning thermostat.   I have been noticing that when my system starts cooling and it’s far from the set point it runs a lower fan speed, but when it gets closer -like 4 degrees from the set point - it will switch to a higher fan speed. Do I maybe have my cooling wires reversed?  Seems to me it should do the opposite.

@Co21 ,

You need to compare the wires for Y1 and Y2 to your old thermostat wiring.  Do you still have the picture of your old thermostat? Also can you get me the model number of your outdoor unit please?

Do you need the air handler or the outdoor unit part number?

Probably should explain that I have two systems hooked to this nest.  1) a hot-water baseboard for heat, and 2) and AC unit for cool.

I cannot quite make out the terminal IDs on your old thermostat.  The outdoor units model number, I want to look up its features and capability. Do you recall the old thermostat make and model number?

I don’t recall the brand of thermostat.  Very old.

outside unit is a carrier infinity. I’ll look around and see if I can find the exact model

Well. I cranked the temp way down and it kicked into stage 2, so I think everything is stop right. I think next I’m going to make it relearn time to temp when it’s hot out.
