Suggestions to enhance Nest Thermostat for multi room

I’ve been using our Nest Thermostat for almost a year now and it has been working well.

We currently have it situated in our living room because that’s where we spend most of our time. The Thermostat controls our oil boiler via a heat link. The boiler is only used for central heating and nothing else.

The only other heat source in the house is an AGA  oven (in the kitchen) and a solid fuel fire stove (in the living room).
I’m interested in developing the heating controls and inputs by building onto the Nest Thermostat.

I would like to begin moving towards multi-zone heating control possibly by putting Smart TRVs on the radiators in the commonly used rooms and only heating the rooms that we need heated.

For example:

- only heat the office when I’m working from home

- heat specific rooms to specific temperatures even if the nest thermostat is already at temperature because it’s in the living room where the solid fuel fire is heating the room.

To cut a long story short, I guess I’m looking for a product that can call the Nest Thermostat and switch it on when the caller is scheduled to begin heating.

Are there smart TRVs on the market that command the nest thermostat.

Is there a way I could use IFTTT commands like:

if smart TRV in office needs to be at 20° then command the Nest to start heating (boiler).

I’d be keen to hear everybody’s ideas.
thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Google Nest thermostats are not compatible with smart TRVs and IFTTT has been deprecated. You can still install TRVs and program them manually, but they won't communicate with the thermostat. If moving your thermostat around your home is helpful for you, you can buy a stand for the thermostat. Also, you can create a multi zone system by installing a thermostat on each zone. This way you'll have ultimate control.

Hi, I wanted to check in. Is there anything else we can assist with?

If so, make sure to let me know.

Are there plans in the future for compatible smart Thermostatic Radiator Valves that can trigger the heater?

Thank you for your question @PeterMertens . Currently I have no information I can share about that, however we are working on our Works with Hey Google program to bring more functionality to homes as the previous Works with Nest program was discontinued.
