Sunblock not working

MCiallelo

I have had sunblock turned on for a week now. Our thermostat does get hit by direct sunlight in the mornings. The air is still kicking on during this time even though the house is not as hot as the thermostat is reading. I keep manually raising the temperature for kick or turning the air off all together when I am home. However I do work Mon.-Fri. How long does it take for Sunblock to start working? It have been 6 days. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi MCiallelo,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with the Sunblock feature. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Aside from the sunlight, are there any other sources of heat near your Nest Thermostat?

If possible, try using a thermometer to check if the Nest is not reading the correct ambient temp.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi, my nest is a 3rd generation. There is no heat source near the thermostat. I noticed today the AC was still kicking on while the sun was beating on the thermostat, even though it was cold in the house.

Hi MCiallelo,

Thanks for the update.  To isolate the issue, could you try toggling the Sunblock off and on again and let's observe it for 24-48 hours.

Thanks,

Edward

Still in need of help. I toggled sunblock off and then back on. That didn’t work. This morning sunblock was on, the thermostat was reading that the house was 83 degree inside when it was actually 73, which caused the AC to be kicked on. It is frustrating because we are wasting fuel for over an hour each day when the house does not need to be cooled down. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi MCiallelo,

Thanks for letting us know. Could you check the back of the display if it's warm? This is to isolate if there's any other heat source that you're Nest Thermostat is reading.

Thanks,

Edward
