Sunblock

When my Nest was first installed, the sun never hit the thermostat so there was never an issue when the unit was in "sunblock learning mode".  Now several months later with the shift in the seasons, the thermostat is in direct sunlight for some time each morning, but the thermostat doesn't go into sun mode and shows instead that the room temp is 95 degrees, causing it to not call for heat even when it's cold in the room.

How can I force the Nest to "relearn" that there is direct sunlight on it?

Hey Jamie2,

Is the Sunblock already turned on? If it is, you might want to try turning it off, restarting your thermostat then turning it back on. However, if all else fails, you might need to reset your thermostat to it's factory settings then set it up again like a brand new device so it will start learning again. Check this link for the step by step guide on how to do so: https://bit.ly/3riP5Dp

I will have to wait until I get to another specific time of year when the sun hits that part of the wall, as it's very specific to the seasons and then try.  I do have another question..... I cannot seem to get the thermostat to hold a specific temperature and override the programs, for example if we were to go away for a weekend how would I get the Nest to hold a temperature for 3 days and not just resume at the next program after I've manually adjusted it?  It seems all I can do is manually adjust the schedule vs. override the schedule temporarily.

Hey Jamie2.

Got it and sorry for the delay. I suggest adjusting the Eco Temperature instead of your thermostat when you're about to go away. Take a look at this link for the steps and for more information: https://bit.ly/3hD0ycL
