I've tried to scroll all the applicable posts in here for this question, and I could've missed something but I couldn't find my exact scenario. So if this is a duplicate post, I apologize but here goes:
I have a TRANE Dual Fuel Elec/Gas Package unit. I will upload previous Trane thermostat wiring and how I currently have my Nest wired. I'm aware that Trane does some proprietary things which is probably why I'm here. In essence, none of the setup guides for wiring match how many wires I have. And I believe the 2 wires in question are the white and black wires.
Previously White = W1 and Black = X2.
On Nest, White = W1 and Black = *. But when I go to configure the system through the Nest thermostat interface, I can only select those 2 wires as "Alt. Heat" and "Alt. Heat 2". Or the "*" could be labeled Emergency heat but it only gives "Elec" as the option for source.
I've previously thought of my unit as only having one stage of Aux heat when the heat pump can't keep up in cold temperatures so I'm confused by the 2 stages of "Alt. Heat". I have not tested it yet as I wanted the warm and fuzzy that my wiring was correct.
So my primary question is, is that wiring correct? And 2nd, is that software configuration correct?
Happy to take/post more pictures as needed.
** Edit ** Best I can do for pictures right now:

Thank you!

I can't seem to be able to upload photos here unfortunately, so hopefully the text makes sense. If anyone has any tips to uploading photos, I'd love to be able to post a photo. The camera icon I normally select is not present when I edit or reply to the post.
Thanks!

Hi ajclark2,
Thanks for posting. I understand that you are looking for more assistance with the wiring configuration and setup configuration for your Nest Learning Thermostat. I appreciate all the detailed information and pictures provided. Don't worry; I'll be more than happy to share more details with you. After checking the wiring configuration that you shared, the best recommendation for a proper installation is to connect with a Nest Pro technician for further guidance.
I hope this information helps.
Best regards,
Jenny

Jenny,
That information does not help. At all. Thank you for taking the time though.
