Teaching Nest to Heat when sun is up

Hello.

I have a 7.6kw sun system connected to a heat pump.

Is there a way to teach Nest Learning Thermostat that when the sun is up.....hence i have free energy........ to start heating above the set temperature ? The ideea is that the more heat is made during the day ...even if is hot, the less energy i will use during the night.

Thank you

Hello ender1980,

Thanks for posting to the Community Nest forum.

Nest Thermostats only act as a controller for your HVAC system. You can try contacting your Sun system supplier to see if they can connect, or if possible, install a dedicated wire to your HVAC to turn on the solar system whenever the HVAC needs to call for your heating or cooling system.

Additionally, our team is committed to improving the Google Nest Thermostats and the app by adding new features. This will be considered input. For news and updates, check out our Google Nest Community page. For more, check out our Google Nest Help Center.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Best,

Mark
