Thermostat connected to my second home uses outside temperature from the location of my first home

My latest learning 3rd generation nest thermostat which is connected to my first home account shows outside temperatures the same in each place which are absolutely false readings!!  What can I do to correct the problem?

I believe they are both connected to my google account as I see them both in my nest home app.  along with a camera on house #1.  Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hi AfricaRick,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: in what country are you located? Do you have a heat pump system? What is the specific outside temperature your thermostat is giving you? Also, do you have a single or dual fuel system?

Identify if you have single or dual fuel:

  1. On your thermostat, select SettingsEquipment
    • If the W1 or W2 label says Alt on the Equipment screen, the HVAC system is on dual fuel. If it says Aux, the system is set as single fuel.
    • If it says Alt and the system is all electric, or if it says Aux and the HVAC system has a gas or oil heating system, the thermostat isn’t properly set up.

Please keep me posted.

Best,

Jenelyn
