Thermostat no adding to Home App after scan

Nest Thermostat not adding when prompted to scan QR code. Check mark appears but then the app just goes back to scanning like nothing happened. Thermostat it's says on the screen to continue installation in the Home App. Thats it. Scanning does nothing but kick back out to the main menus. App is up to date and phone restarted. NOTHING.

Hey NiYo,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. What type of Nest thermostat do you have? What phone are you using to set up your thermostat? If your phone can’t scan the QR code, you can manually type in the key or serial number.

  1. Tap Continue without scanning at the bottom of the QR code scanning screen. Then type in your product’s entry key or serial number.
  2. You can tap Find the code or Show me how, and the app will show you where the serial is located on your product.

Tip: If you have a hard time reading your Nest product’s entry key or serial number, take a picture with your phone’s camera. Then open the picture in your photo app and zoom in.
