Thermostat turns off

Mikesn
Community Member

Every night I set the cooling temperature back from 23c to 20c at 10:30pm. The cooling comes on, but exactly 1 hour later at 11:30pm the thermostat turns off the AC before it reaches the set point. Then exactly 5 minutes later it turns the AC back on and it runs until the set point is reached. During these 5 minutes I can see the thermostat is not calling for the AC so I know it is not my cooling system. Any ideas why this is happening. It is a 3rd generation.

Hi Mikesn,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check and see if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  1. What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  2. Did you try using the Help Center or troubleshooter before contacting support? If so, which steps have you tried already?
  3. When did cooling last work?
  4. Is this a newly installed thermostat?
  5. What type of system do you have? (Heat Pump or conventional type)
  6. Did you  turn off the power to your HVAC system?
    • Are the breakers turned on?
    • Did you recently experience a brownout or blackout?
    • Did you have any construction or maintenance work done on your home?
  7. Have you experienced extremely hot weather lately?
  8. Do you see a message or code on your thermostat?
  9. Have you set up a temperature schedule for your thermostat?

Also, kindly check on the power readings of your Nest Thermostat by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power if you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, and to Settings > Equipment > Power Info if you have the Nest Thermostat 2020.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
