The top picture with labeled wires is coming straight out of HVAC system and then into the old thermostat converter box, with only red/white/green/blue (no yellow) exiting.  I idiotically didn’t take a pic of the old wiring, but I know there was a jumper.
 I believe that:

Red= Rh

White = W1

green= G

blue = ???? (Y1?)

Blue is fairly consistent reversing valve labeled variously with w1, O, B but mostly B,  yellow is cooling labeled Y or Y1 and sometimes Y2 (Y1 and Y2 for 2 stages of cooling which may be just your indoor fan speed, is on my new Bosch), Red is consistently power usually R or Rh,  Green is consistently the Fan and labeled G,  the common wire must be the most confusing of all, label C and on my units brown wire but I  suspect no color convention for common.     You could think of it this way,  Red is power, green is fan, blue switches the reversing valve, w1 turns on the compressor.   My new outdoor heat pump unit only has 4 wires coming to it- labelled C, Y, B, W.   I bet all this didn't help you much.
