Thermostat won't charge in base

Hey all,

I've owned my thermostat for about 3 years, and now have an issue rendering it unusable.

The thermostat can be charged when I remove the base and plug the charging cable into the thermostat directly. However, it can't be operated in this configuration, and requests that it is placed in the base.

When connected to the base, the thermostat will power on, but the base does not charge the unit. The little LED flashes, suggesting it is getting power.

The thermostat will then display one of two messages.

  1. Your thermostat is restarting. back in a bit
  2. Your thermostat needs to shut down in order to save battery power

For now I've just manually set the heatlink to on, and am using the TRVs on my radiators to control heating, but its far from ideal. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for all the information @JamesM25 . I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties controlling your thermostat and will do my best to try and assist.

If you haven't already make sure to take the display off the base and charge it separately using something like a phone charger for at least 90 minutes. Once this is done, place it back and see if it turns on at all allowing you to access the settings. If it does, go straight to Settings> Technical info> Power and grab a picture of all the readings there.

Ours is also about 2-3 years old and yesterday did the same exact thing.  We do not have a link but one thermostat is completely dead.  Very frustrating.  I’ve never had a thermostat that just died due to battery issues.

Hi there @DSWM, can you please provide me with some extra details? Also, can you please tell me what do you refer to by 'link'?
