Thermostat won't show in Google Home App

Hey Guys,

I've got the thermostat working, connecting and running through the Nest App however all my other Google products are running through Home.

When I try add the thermostat to the Google Home App it takes me to the Nest login page and says to use my Google account to login. After this I get a generic message:

 

Now that you’ve migrated your Nest account to Google, use the Google Home app to connect devices that work with your Nest devices. Go to the Google Home app, tap Add > Set up device > Have something already set up? Then find the name of the company that makes the device that you’re adding.

 

There are then no options to proceed. This continues when following the steps it asks. I'm stuck in a bit of a loop! Any advice?

There has been a whole spate of posts like this. You CANNOT perform any action to "add" your Nest Learning Thermostat to the Google Home app. When you add or install your Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app, provided that you are logging onto both apps with the same Google (gmail) account and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps. Some customers inadvertently have set up more than one Google Nest "home/structure" and are accessing one in the Goggle Nest app and another in the Google Home app. Some customers have reported this doesn't work; some have fixed it by logging out of the Google Nest app and then logging back on, or creating a temporary dummy Google Nest "home/structure" (with nothing in it) in the Google Nest app, then going to the Google Home app to see that new empty Google Nest "home/structure", and deleting the empty Google Nest "home/structure"; then their original home appears in the Google Home app and they see their thermostat. Go figure! It's almost like the action triggers the two apps to sync.  It's all part of Google Nest's 2-app solution.

Many thanks for this. I came here looking for the solution to this exact problem and the creation and deletion of a dummy "Home2" did the trick. 😎

Perhaps I was wrong about not being able to add the Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Home app. I don't know whether this applies in your situation, but see this reply that was just posted on another thread:

It looks like MplsCustomer's suggestions worked out well for Lurkio. I wanted to check in and see if you had tried that out and to see if you were still needing some help on this. Let me know if you are still in need of some help here.
