Thermostat worked for Winter, switched to A/C, nothing happened...All HVAC installed

Bought the thermostat for my mom in December for my Mother's upcoming Birthday. She was pleased And everything went as planned, we had an HVAC technician come in and install the unit, everything was okay and until the weather changed and we had to put on the AC when our thermostat did not work. The nest was not pulling enough electricity thereby unable to send enough volts for the condenser relays, and Cool our unit and set the air conditioning switch over.

Since I bought the unit in December, I am unable to get a return because it's been way too many days to return or replace. All I want is for some compensation now that I have a different thermostat in place that works fine, even though I wish I had a Google Nest thermostat in it's place.

Can I at least have a gift certificate forwards other Google products and you can see if there's anything wrong with it.

This is a good question. You claim your AC did not work when you switched from winter to spring.  You should have called your HVAC company for a warranty repair since he did not properly test the Nest thermostat in cooling mode.  If there indeed was a problem it could have been addressed in December this is why the Nest software provides the Heating and Cooling test at the end of the installation.  On days when the outdoor temperature is below 70°, you can  at least test the thermostat to verify that it’s turning on the outdoor unit. It certainly cannot operate as an air conditioner with the outdoor ambient temperature below 60° but at least you know it works. This is what your HVAC person should’ve done before they completed their installation. Now let’s see how well you did with your installation of the nest thermostat.

The nest thermostat does not “Pull” energy from the HVAC equipment. The nest receives electrical power from the HVAC equipment on the R wire. And the thermostat simply sneds that power back on the W wire for heating to the HVAC equipment or sends that same current back to the HVAC equipment on the Y wire for air-conditioning. That is to say simple Micro Relay does the connecting. so if there is a bad micro relay, we could’ve detected that, however, unlikely the case, when it was first installed in December. During manufacturing all of those micro relays are tested it automatically by the equipment during manufacturing. This is done to weed out. Any defective electronic, micro relays. So let’s see if we can help you get your nets working again.

Post a picture of the back plate with the wires attached of the curent thermostat and the nest back plate. We need to verify that the wires were attached properly, and that they are inserted properly and are therefore capable of performing as needed.

And, when you first discovered this, I’m sure you opened up a case here asking for help or did you simply take the approach to take the nest off the wall and then demand a refund when you didn’t even try to get help to get your perceived problem  checked out by a professional.? If you think about there are tens of thousands of these units in service and yours is having a problem. We would love to help you troubleshoot this, but it looks like your choice was to simply remove it and demand a refund outside of the warranty period.

Why not do us a favor, take a picture of your current thermostat, back plate, showing the wires connected to which terminals, then install your Nest back plate and reinstall the wires properly per the instructions provided, and then take a picture of the nest back plate, so we can verify that the wires are inserted properly.

Post the pictures here is here and I will do everything I can to make sure your Nest Learning Thermostat is operating properly.
