Transferring a Nest Thermostat

Hello.

I am a real estate broker and I recently sold a home wherein the tenant is not reachable. My client is unable to reach them to transfer the thermostat.  How are we able to complete the transfer without the cooperation of the previous owner?  Thank you.

If the old owner of the nest is not reachable then you will probably have to do a factory reset, the above linked help article can walk you through the steps.  Let me know if any questions!

If that Nest Thermostat is still registered to the former tenant account, a factory reset alone will not unbind the thermostat from the google nest account of the previous owner.
