True Radiant does not start early enough to warm up to the desired temp on time

I have had my nest thermostats installed for a little more than a week.  I want my house to reach 68 degrees by 7am. I set it to 62 degrees at night.  The first floor of my house heats up very slowly so I have max duration set to 2 hours which should mean that the the thermostat can start preheating as early as 5 am.  The heat has been starting around 6:15 am and the house doesn't reach 68 degrees until around 8:30 am.  Why isn't the thermostat starting preheating earlier?  How can I get it to start earlier?

Hi SCP,

Thanks for posting ― let's get this sorted.

For the system to start heating later, max duration can be modified from Settings > Nest Sense > True Radiant > Max Duration.

You can set it to 3 hours so it starts preheating earlier.

HI Mel,

Sorry if I wasn't clear.  The problem is that the thermostat is underestimating how long it will take to get my house up to 68 degrees.  According to the promotional material, the thermostat should turn my heat on based the temperature outside and the amount of time it takes to heat up my house with max duration being the window allowed for preheating.  This was a key reason why I bought these thermostats.  Based on my current max duration setting the thermostat could, and should, start preheating my house as early as 5am but it does not start preheating until after 6 am.  I did change max duration to 3 hours but since it was using less than an hour of the previous 2 hour max duration setting, giving it a 3 hour max duration won't solve the problem.
