Unhappy with forced obsolescence

No valid reason to obsolescence thermostats. They function fine with Nest App and Google Home App. Seems Google just wants to squeeze a few more dollars from consumers. I understand Model #4 does not have all the good features of earlier models. I have Nest cameras, door camera, nest protect and nest thermostats.  Makes me think about getting rid of all and moving to Apple Home compatible units.

Completely agree. They have failed to innovate and encourage users to upgrade organically so why not just force users to upgrade by arbitrarily making their purchased products / solutions obsolete. This is a betrayal of Google hardware customers. I’ll NEVER buy another Google device as long as I live. Frankly I’m angered by this enough that I will accelerate my leap to the use of Chat GPT or other emerging AI agents in lieu of using their cash cow search engine. Major strategic blunder. Congratulations Google. All ends have a beginning and you’ve just embarked on that terminal journey.
