Unit is heating no matter the heat pump setting O or B

Woke up to heat when in cooling mode. Googled the issue and suggested changing heat pump setting from O to B or B to O, depending on original setting. I changed it from O to B. It started cooling. 4 days go by and the same thing happens, heating instead of cooling. I change heat pump setting from B to O, still heating on Cooling mode. Even tried the Heat/Cool mode, still heating.

Hi crtrgaddis,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please answer the following:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • Is the Nest thermostat newly installed? If the customer recently installed the thermostat, use the Compatibility Checker tool to confirm the thermostat's compatibility.
  • Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
  • What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  • When did heating last work?
  • Did heating ever work with the Nest thermostat? If not: Did the heating work with the previous thermostat?
  • Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?
    • Did you recently turn off any breakers?
    • Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
    • Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
  • Did you select the correct fuel type?
  • Does the furnace activate while the fan doesn’t?
  • Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board?
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  • Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?

Also, gather the power readings of Batter, VOC, VIN, and lIN under Settings > Technical Info > Power if you have either the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E and VIN, IIN, and PS-* if you have the Nest Thermostat 2020.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

I have a Nest Learning Thermostat. I installed it myself many years ago. My AC guy came back out and jumpered across the connections at the Thermostat and everything worked. It was a faulty thermostat. I have since purchased a new Nest Learning Thermostat. Is it possible to get this one repaired?

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. Were you able to get a service invoice or a diagnosis report from the technician who checked on your system? If there is, kindly let us know.

Regards,

Zoe
