I've tried and tried to find details about what controls stage 2 for the nest thermostat. I understand before the thermostat learns your house, 3.3 degrees is the threshold for stage 2 and 7 degrees for secondary/aux heat. But once it learns everything it just says, "the Nest Thermostat turns on the second stage cooling, if it detects that the first stage won't be able to reach the target temperature within a reasonable time". What is a "reasonable time"? Reasonable to one person might not be reasonable to another? Is there a setting to affect this?

Hey climbbike,
I am sorry for the late reply. I wanted to reach out and see if you are still in need of any help with the 1st and 2nd stage cooling? Please let me know if you have any questions from here, as I would be more than happy to help out.
Best regards,
Jake

I think the question is quite clear but no one seems to be able to answer it including support. Honestly support knew so little, I was embarrassed for them. I purchased an Ecobee instead which allows you to configure the staging thresholds any way you'd like.

Have a great day.
