I have tried two different smart thermostats with no luck. I currently have an American Standard that came with my unit but the screen was cracked. I can't just buy a new one online because they are commercial only and my AC people want to charge me $199 for a diagnostic fee which is BS bc I already know I just need a new thermostat. So looking at the nests now and would like some help with wiring compatibility and just which one to buy. Thanks!

Hi Justj1976,
Thanks for reaching out to our community!
I'm glad to hear you're interested in getting a Nest thermostat. Nest thermostats are compatible with most conventional HVAC systems, and the wiring labels your previous thermostat has seem to indicate that a Nest Learning Thermostat might be the best option for you. From your photo, I'm able to make out the following wires:
I'm not able to make out what the orange wire is attached to. However, if it's attached to a connector labeled AUX or E, then a Nest Learning Thermostat is still compatible. Otherwise, feel free to keep me posted so we can take a closer look at it and determine the best course of action.
Regards,
Angel.
