Please send me the free nest connector that is offered in your app for C wire power option OR call me up to discuss my options.

Hello IncompatibleNes,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest community! I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

We appreciate you having the Nest Thermostat 2020 model. During the compatibility or power check, the app determines if you need a Nest Power Connector and should provide a Google Store link to click, which allows you to order the Nest Power Connector at no cost.

To confirm, could you tell me more about how the installation went? Were you able to complete the instructions? Also, you can give it another shot. Ensure that the Google Home app is updated, reopen the app, and set up the thermostat again.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark, Sorry for delays. I was a bit busy during the holidays. Thanks for responding.

I completed the installation. My unit works but keeps giving the N260 error message.

I found an unused blue color wire at the base of the previous thermostat that was not using it. I extended it by soldering another wire and attached it to the C slot in my Nest thermostat. After firing it up, it still shows the N260 error. I doubled checked that the solder was good and connected.

I am not sure if that blue wire is working for me. Any other thoughts?

Regards,

Prem

Hi there,

No worries about the delay, and I appreciate your holiday wishes! I'm glad to hear that you completed the installation, but it's unfortunate that you're encountering the N260 error.

It's great that you identified and extended the unused blue wire to connect it to the C slot on your Nest Thermostat. Since the error persists, please perform a factory data reset on your thermostat to reconfigure your wires, or you can check out the Google Home app to update the wiring if the option is available. Here's how:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Tap the Settings icon and select Thermostat.
  4. Choose the Wiring to add the C wire in its configuration.
  5. If that doesn't update it, continue resetting it and proceeding with the initial setup.

I hope this helps. Keep me posted.

Best,
Mark
