White Rodger’s thermostat to Nest 4th gen

Mark_M
Community Member

I am replacing a White-Rodgers 1F95-391 with a 4th gen Nest thermostat and have a white wire connected to an OT terminal that does not show up in the compatibility checker.

I have C, R, E/W1, Y1, O, G and OT

oil forced air and heat pump (separate Life Breath air exchanger).

Thanks

Hi Mark_M

Thank you for posting in the community. I'd be glad to help with your wiring concerns. The information you've provided is very helpful for guiding you through the wiring process.
Based on this information, your system is compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat (4 gen). You can install the wires in the following way:

  • C with terminal C
  • R with terminal R
  • E with terminal W1
  • Y1 with terminal Y1
  • O with terminal O/B
  • G with terminal G

To better guide you through the installation, you can check out the following diagram:

I also have a white wire connected to a OT terminal. Thoughts on where that would connect?

Hi Mark_M

Thank you for your response. It is advisable not to connect the white wire OT terminal to the current Nest Thermostat.

For further assistance, to help us get a better picture of what's happening, do you mind sharing a photo of the wiring of your old thermostat?

keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell

Thank you for the update. I appreciate the information provided but we still need to move forward with regards to your concern therefore i'd like to ask you a few questions below:

  • Is there a jumper between R and E2?
