Why doesn’t Nest app know my furnace is broken?

It seems crazy with all the hype around AI that Nest App doesn’t detect when a furnace (or other HVAC) is not working. It would be trivial to recognize when the thermostat is calling for heat and yet hours are passing with the temperature not increasing. Obviously when the owner is home they will recognize this situation but when the owner is away, simply notifying the owner of a non-functioning furnace could prevent severe damage to the home. Why isn’t that part of the Nest app?

Hi TheoGoldin,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear that you weren't notified of your app that your furnace is broken. Google has an HVAC monitoring from Google Nest feature for Nest Thermostat that can help you identify potential issues with eligible heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. If a potential issue is detected, we’ll send you an alert via email or a Google Home app notification.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
