I have now tried for a couple of days to log into my nest thermostat app
Can not login even though I have the email address and password captured.
Have tried the reset password link and this does not send anything.
Tried using the google login and it pops up to send an email.
Using android. (uninstalled and re-installed the app) Then tried the above again and same responses.
Know the email address is correct, due to receiving monthly reports on activity

The most likely explanation for why you are unable to log into the Google Nest app AND are not getting a password reset email is that you are somehow inadvertently using an incorrect email address, one that is different from the one you've used in the past to log into the Google Nest app.
You could, of course, try contacting Support to see if something else is going on:
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
