Wiring Help C, O, W2, R, G, and Y wires

Hi all,

Trying to hook up the thermostat on my grandmother's home.

It has C, O, W2, R, G, and Y wires.

I hooked them up to the corresponding position on the base and the system comes on and everything but seems to be blowing warm air.

Online I found something that said to turn the cool on for a period of time then warm (both to a certain temp but cannot recall exactly) and then it should work but it doesn't.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Keenan

Please post a picture of your original thermostat's wiring here

I've tried inserting a onedrive link and the photo but not sure of the success of either.

To flesh out what I typed earlier, here are wire colors from the home and the corresponding place it is plugged into the existing thermostat.

Blue wire from home into C

Black wire from home into O

White wire from home into W2

Red wire from home into R

Green wire from home into G

Yellow wire from home into Y

From the Nest instructions I do not believe it matters because the jumpers are removed but in the existing thermostat there is a red wire jumper from W/E to W2

Thanks again for your help, Keenan

Hey keenanknight,

Thanks for reaching out and for including the photo to your post.

By looking at the photo, it shows that you have a heat pump system. The black wire connected to O controls the cooling and heating by changing the valve orientation. Since it is a heat pump and your system only blows warm air, we could try to change the OB orientation by following the complete guide here.

Let us know how it goes and we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks for your help, Patrick_Caezza.

Best regards,

Ryan
