Wiring for EM Heat

Hi,
My HVAC system has a AC condensor & electric furnance. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a Heat Pump. Currently I'm using EM heat to warm the house. I tried to install Nest Learning thermostat. Althought I matched the wires with the old thermostat I got the error e78 "W2-aux wire by itself". Without a heat pump would it still be possible to do the wiring without any errors and use EM Heat only in Nest thermostat?

Hi kaniJustin,

Yikes! If your HVAC system does not have a heat pump and you are using only the electric furnace (EM heat) for heating, it is still possible to install and use a Nest Learning Thermostat. Since you don't have a heat pump system, kindly move the W2 wire to the W1 terminal.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
