I am trying to wire up my new Nest Learning Thermostat on my up stairs unit.  When I used the app it say the thermostat is compatible but to contact a pro.  I do have a heat pump system.  Attached is how the system is currently wired.IMG_1392.jpegIMG_1391.jpeg

Hi bfoot17,

Thanks for posting and for the photo.

A quick question: did you use the jumper wire when you connected the wires to the Nest Learning Thermostat's template?

Best,

Mel

No, I haven't installed it yet.  I tried using the app to do the install and it started out saying follow this wiring then I got stopped and when I came back it said you need to contact a Nest Pro.  From what I can see on the actual unit it is a two stage heat pump with auxiliary heat.  No gas or propane.

Hello there,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for assistance, Mel.

@bfoot17, It appears that it's compatible with Nest Thermostats. You can also check your system’s compatibility before purchasing a Nest Thermostat with our online Compatibility Checker. But here's your guide on how you should label the wires on the Nest Thermostat:

  • W (white)
  • G (green)
  • O/B (orange)
  • C (brown)
  • Y (yellow)
  • Rc/R (red)

Please let me know if it helps.

Regards,

Mark

I wanted to see if you still needed help. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I got everything install Friday night on the second coldest night of the season.  Everything worked great.  I appreciate the help.

Thank you,

Ben

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
